Thread: W211 2003 Audio 50 APS - Locked and turns on and off automatically

Hi,

I have had a recent issue with my Audio 50 APS where it has defaulted to german and the nav CD seems to be locked in the unit.

Error: Diebstahlschutz CD Laufwerk ist gesperrt - (CD theft protection drive is locked)

It also turns on and off every 30 seconds or so... I have removed the fuses for the AGW - Radio - CD Changer. Left it overnight and reinserted them with no luck.

Does it sound like a new head unit or a visit to STAR diag?

If it requires a change what would I need to swap this out to a new NTG2.5 unit? (I have worked out the below from reading through some of the forums)

I have parktronic so no need for the boot liner.
Have the nokia phone kit installed so need cabling to use mic.
New Nav processor
Head unit (NTG2.5).

Would I need a new AGW or would my one be dual? I will try and check this on the weekend. I did find a post where it stated audio 50 aps with phone wiring was easy but now I cannot find that post with the instructions. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you install NTG 2.5 you no longer need

- CD stacker
- Phone module in rear
- AGW
- Microphone controller

Those can be bypassed and removed.

To install NTG2.5 you need (applies only to your car)
--------------------------------
- COMAND NTG 2.5
- wiring from AGW to speaker connections
- Bluetooth antenna
- GPS extension from front to rear (should be in the adaptor for speaker wiring)
- Head unit adaptor for power etc ....
- microphone extension from NTG 2.5 to rear left passenger seat (microphone junction)



Richard has a very low cost APS50 for sale in new condition.
