Default Presentation and help needed please

    Hi guys,

First of all let me introduce myself, as I am new in this information site :-)).
I’m 42 years old and have always loved cars, and now I am lucky enough that I work with them. I work in the test track department of one of the most prestigious proving grounds in Europe.
Married and with 5 small kids. That’s why my present car is a 9 seater Vito.

Surfing through the net to find a solution to a problem in the fitment of an Audio 50, I came across this forum, which looks really good.

Let’s see can you help me.
My Vito is a 2005 model (W639) and I bought an original Becker Audio 50 APS for it, but it seems that it’s only good for Vitos from 04/2006 onwards.
The model I bought is 7086, manufactured 02/08, serial nº 81020111.

For starters the dash has to be slightly modified to accommodate the new radio.
This is not a problem, but getting the connection/wiring seems to be the hard bit.

As the main dealer could not/would not supply me with the wiring to connect the Audio 50 APS, I bought a radio wiring harness which they sell to fit a Parrot to an Audio 10.
I basically removed the Parrot section and was left with a wiring that seemed to fit.
Unfortunately it did not even switch on.

So what do I need to do to get it to work?
Am I using the correct wiring or is there something better out there?
Does anybody have the Audi 50 wiring diagram, I would need to know what pin is for what on the back of the radio. The wires from the car going to the radio, what each one is for (colour code)
Also once it’s all wired up, do I need to fit any extra wires to the unit to get it going?
Like a wire to can bus, or go to the dealer to get it plugged in and coded to the car, etc?

Any ideas or help to get it working would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, Maldit

In the normal workshop instructions there is a

    - Cable
    - Central gateway
    - bracket for gateway.

    This solves the communication problem

    Maldit,

This adapter loom sorts the wiring out.

    Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: Current W169 A, W245 B, Sprinter, Vito, Viano :: COMAND/Audio-20 install kit (NTG2) for W203-C/W209-CLK/Sprinter/Viano/Vito

(assuming this is the standard Audio-50-APS without the bluetooth telephone functions built in, otherwise you need a different loom for NTG2.5)

If you need to code the Audio-50-APS you can not do this without addition of the CGW (as per what Benzmodz has said above)

But as the adapter loom includes a fibre loop, if the unit is from Europe, it should not need coding

    Cheers

    Hi Benz and Richard,

All I can say is wow, you guys sure are good.

So to get it fully working all I need is to use the loom in the link you sent me?

I have been looking for a solution for weeks, and the main dealer could not help me, so I bought a wiring loom which now seems useless

Thanks a million, I just can't believe it so easy, after all the head breakers I went through.

Thanks guys and I will keep you up dated on my radio fitting.

    Cheers, Maldit

    Hi guys,

    One last question.
Can you explain exactly what I have to do to add the CGW.
Sorry but I am a bit lost.

Do I need to fit an extra fan behind the radio?

    Thanks, Maldit

The CGW is a control unit and a wiring loom which conncets to power, the CANbus distributor (which is in a bag above the driver's feet, or stuffed between inner and outer wings next to drivers week) and the diagnostic socket. It acts as a diagnostic gateway for the tester (Star Diagnosis) to access control units that are only on the CANbus like the Audio-50 and the COMAND.

The adapter loom also plugs into the CANbus. (The CANbus is the car's network)

    Hi guys,

The link you sent me to buy the wiring loom says that it’s for a command, but my radio is Audio 50 APS. Is it the same wiring loom I need?

    Thank you, Maldit

It is just a wiring change for CGW.

    Hi guys,

Thank you for your advice, I have just ordered the wiring loom you recommended me at command online. I take it the wiring loom is plug and play.
The loom goes from the car to the radio and one wire to the canbus.
Is there instructions to where exactly the canbus wire goes to?
Once that is done, do I have to do anything else?

    Thank you, Maldit
