Default Retrofit auto trunk closer into w219 cls

Hi, I'm considering retrofitting automatic trunk closing into a my07 with keyless go.

From looking at EPC I think I need a control module, motor, potentiometer, latch, button and some other small fitments. I'm thinking I will need to make up the wiring harness for the trunk as it is not a purchasable item?

Have I missed anything, and how hard a job is this? Would it it need coding ia STAR?

    Many thanks

This will require coding. Id expect in the CGW/EIS, door control module for the drivers door and the Rear SAM at least. Maybe in the instrument cluster if there are any settings for the function there.

There is also a switch within the cockpit to operate it, a control unit and a wiring loom

If you look in EPC on a CLS55, Section 75 subsection 015 shows the parts you mention (option code 881)

Section 82, subsection 617 shows the control unit and main wiring harness, which looks to me from the picture like it goes into the trunk lid too.

Section 82 subsection 64 shows the switch in the door (get the correct one for LHD vs RHD) - I can not find evidence of additional wiring in the door so assume it connects straight to the door controller

Benzmodz will i'm sure, comment if there is any significant extra stuff (for instance on a SL it needs a different main pump thing)

Richard, thanks for your help. I'm hoping to have access to WIS over the next couple of weeks, and will look at the wiring in more detail. I think constructing the loom is going to be the most difficult.

There are only a few basic parts.

    1) Motor assembly - comes with bracket, potentiometer, motor.
    2) Latch
    3) Button for trunk lid
    4) Button for door
    5) assortment of scews
    6) Trunk lid harness (you buy this as one piece)
    7) Latch / motor power harness.

If you get totally stuck then you can look at W211, W209 as sources of wiring for the purpose of getting this information. SLR Maclaren also.

Then you need some basic coding.

I'd order the wiring harness A211 540 48 10 first (as mentioned above) and see if that has all the parts you need. Im 99% sure it is the complete loom (i.e it is the trunk lid harness too)

It plugs into the rear-prefuse area (in the tyre well), CAN bus, ground at the left tail-lamp, control unit, and the motors/switches

Note that in EPCnet, if a part description starts with a . that means it comes with the main part it is associated with, so you don't need to order some of the various switches / sensors if you order a complete motor.

The door switch in the front may be more difficult to install since that will require cutting the door card (or replacing it with one with the cutout for the switch) I think - BUT I havent seen one to be sure.

    Cheers

Thanks for all the useful advice. If I can get hold of the trunk lid loom it will make the job reasonably simple. (Hopefully)

Those are always orderable. Just bear in mind that the power for the rear closer is in the front of the car for obvious reasons. If you blow a fuse you can open the trunk still. Getting that power to the front will be quite a task.
