Thread: oficial rear camera?

Hi,

I know that is posible to install a reverse or rear camera with ntg 2.5, but I don't know if exists some oficial MB rear camera? is posible to install a generic camera?

The installation is "plug-and-play"? or is necesary configure something else?

I have a W203 CL (CLC).

The unit can be coded (by a specialist) to use a rear view camera, so you can install one - but there never was an official one for W203 ,so you need to think carefully where to put it. Get one that is advertised to work for Mercedes.

In all cases it must have a Mercedes control unit (small black box) near the tail lamp attached to the reverse for power.

This isolates the camera and prevents damage to the head unit.

Also in the W203 you need to use either the electronics from an NTG2 derived from W164 or upgrade that to NTG2.5

What do you want to say with, "In all cases it must have a Mercedes control unit (small black box) near the tail lamp attached to the reverse for power."

Between the head unit and the camera (any camera) you must use a reversing module (size of box of matches).
