Thread: Is it possible to enable in-motion iPod video on new COMAND system?

I'm looking at purchasing a new Mercedes E350 soon and I see that one of the accessories is the iPod Video Integration Kit that allows you to watch video off your iPod while the car is parked (of course).

Naturally, I'm looking to see if it's possible to disable that function so that I can have iPod video playing while the car is in motion.

If your car has reversing camera there is no video option.

So in the situation of no reversing camera?

Then you may have video but no video-in-motion.

To get video-in-motion you must lose the GPS function.

Ok thanks. I suppose another option is to have the video playing on the iPad and have the sound coming out the speakers. I suppose I'd need some kind of Aux input for this?

Take frequent road trips and the girlfriend likes to have a movie on.

Some classes of Mercedes have split screen monitors. Passenger sees movie while you see GPS.

The AUX feature depends on the specification. If you have UCI and no reversing camera then it does already have video-in. They always have AUX sound in when there is GPS COMAND installed.

Thanks so much. Sounds like worst case, she can watch a movie on the iPad while the sound comes out through the AUX, and I can still retain the nav functionality.

That will be under the audio menu.

When you are operating the GPS you can just silence the navigation instructions so it doesnt speak.

I often mute the COMAND GPS advice while it is speaking. Then I can listen to the radio without bother.
