Default Can a Comand 2.0 unit play MP3 files on CD?

    Hi,

I have a CLK 500 W209 registered in the UK March 2004, with a CD-based Comand 2.0 head unit and the 6-cd autochanger in the glove box. The option-code for this indicates it is an MP3 capable autochanger, but I've not been able to play an MP3 CD either through the autochanger or the in-built CD drive usually used for the satnav disk.

I've searched extensively including this page :

    COMAND - All about COMAND

but it doesn't state defnitively whether the Comand 2.0 unit supports MP3 disks or not.

So can you tell me please if this unit is supposed to be able to play MP3 files from CD?

Many thanks for your help, and for all the various information you've posted about this and other MB subjects which has been most useful.

    All the best

    Danny

ps I know I can plug my IPOD into the aux socket, and I know I can burn audio CDs - just to save anyone the trouble of suggesting these solutions

It is not clear whether or not any of the D2B CD changers support MP3.

I have seen plenty of MOST CD Changers from the facelift model but not D2B.

Thanks. Ever the optimist, I'll take that as being better than "No, it doesn't" and will try some other disk formats etc.

For what its worth I believe it is the head unit, not the CD changer, that would be the limiting factor.

I'll let you know if I get any success.

    Regards

    Danny
