    Default W211 220CDi Coolant warning

    Hi all,

The dreaded malfunction thing has started! 'Coolant - visit garage' is all it says. I've taken the filler cap off the expansion tank and it seems brim full . After a 10 mile trip the electric fan was on, but the temp gauge shows it's usual low level.

Is there anything else a human can do?

Have you checked the coolant sensor wiring.

Yep - checked that out. The book of words says this warning is related to the electric fan control.... the fan is running quite a lot and was on with the engine cold on start-up just now That can't be right eh?

Now, does the 22CDi have a thermostat 9ie wax pellet mechanical device) for controllibng flow to the rad/bypass? or is it a sensor with electricary valve? Just curious.

    Phil
