    Question W221 Trunk Auto Closing

Is it possible to add auto-closing of the trunk for my 2007 S550?

    You need

    - motor
    - switches (trunk lid and interior)
    - wiring
    - lock mechanism
    - software changes

So besides the software update this looks like I might be able to pull it off. Some more questions for you.
    - motor -- I haven't looked at the internals of a trunk that comes with auto-close but I assume that my car should have the place where the motor is supposed to be (just that it's empty and nothing there)?

    - switches -- I now there're switches on the lid but there're a more switches inside the trunk?

    - wiring -- I have to strip and make my own connections are will there be plug & play harnesses?

    - lock mechanism -- the lock is different? why?

    - software changes -- dealer I suppose?

    Thanks!

I suggest you do research from the factory drawings. The best information comes from a car with this option already fitted.

Thanks, I guess that is a good place to start. Also if there's anyone that has already made the trek or knows someone who did, please share your experiences with us

Spoke with a Mercedes technician today and he seem to thing that it would require a SAM too for the trunk...however, he did seem a little uncertain and not really up to date on what's going on in the retrofitting realm. @BenzModz is this something you actually did before yourself and found that a SAM is not required?

    Thanks,

The SAM depends on the cars existing options. Not a huge cost compared to labour.

Thanks, God willing in a few months I'll attempt this and a few other minor mods and I'll be excited to post the results and process with pics.
