Default 2007 CLS63 AMG Euro Conversion

    Hi Guys,

i am thinking of buying a used 2007 CLS63 from an auction and to ship it to the UAE.

If i read correctly in several posts, the US Spec Mercs have Command systems made by Alpine and the rest made by Becker. I currently drive a BMW and they luckily use the same systems for US & Euro but just have to be reprogrammed.

Is it correct that the 2007CLS uses the NTG2 system?
To convert the car to function properly in the UAE and tune in to the correct radio frequencies, i need to exchange the full Command Unit. This would allow me to use UAE based Navigation DVDs and tune the radio to 0.1 frequencies. Correct?

Moreover, the reverse camera has a different connection and needs to use an adapter to function properly?

The car has the HK Logic 7 system. Is that in any way related to the Command or can I buy any used Command system from a Euro spec E-Class or CLS-Class and replace it with it, as the Logic 7 decoding happens in the amp or a seprate DSP behind the Command unit?

Lastly, i would have to get a new clusterdisk to change the speedometer from Mph to Kph. Is there anything else i have to do to make the car the same as Euro spec? Is the Command tied in to anything else which has to be changed?

    Thats a lot of questions....

    Thanks already for the help

You may find that the engine software is different and the fuel tank has a pressure switch that doesnt get used outside in the rest of world.

With regards to the navigation, electrical wiring and so on you may have to come back to the forum once you have the car and give the chassis number.

    Hi BenzMods,

thank you for your answer. I actually decided to go with an X5 instead and bought it already yesterday

I really thought about the CLS, but i realized that i drive so many kilometers and think it would be the wrong car for that, as the maintenance will be very high once the parts start breaking...

    Thanks again

I never broke anything on my Mercedes. Everything that can wear out after 100,000km was replaced. Just silly things like engine belt, rubber bushes.

I will keep this X5 for a bit and then hopefully go back to a Merc. They seem to have better re-sale value in the UAE. I do enjoy the sportiness of the BMWs though.

    Thanks for the help again
