Default Iphone interface which uses car aerial

I have a 2005 c320 with a phone kit installed. Is there a cradle or kit that will link to an iphone but use the external aerial fitted to the car, and not the internal aerial of the iphone. Surely the external aerial will give better reception. Thanks

There are two things utimately limiting all iphones. Firstly they dont have a dedicated and shielded cable connection to an outside antenna. That is mostly found on Nokias.

Secondly, there is no advantage to pumping the signal into the cabin from the outside amplifier / antenna. As that is measured in terms of watts / microwave.

The only Mercedes solution available is the comfort phone which is associated with the NTG 2.5 navigation system. This offers both a cradle and also a way of localising the cars antenna signal to a position directly behind the phone in the cradle.

I am not at all certain whether or not you must in all cases have NTG 2.5 with this solution but given that it has a dedicated bluetooth channel for the headunit I would say that it does for phonecall audio steaming.
