2004 C230 sport Coupe W203
This car has the COMAND system installed, but it may be a retrofit. Everything seems to work fine, but there is no aux input. I have read on another thread about an aux cable that is only about $50 US, which would be fine if i can do it. As much as I would love to get ipod control through the head unit, I can't really afford to spend that much at this point. I would settle for a 3.5 input jack or a bluetooth connection for audio streaming.
I found the knockout in the glovebox where the aux input jack would go, but I haven't looked for the intermediate connector block that I read should be somewhere in the footwell below the glovebox. If the system is in fact a retrofit, will that intermediate connect block still be there?
Also, there is a small hole cutout of the back of the ashtray and through the panel behind it. The hole is about 1.5 cm square. I have no idea what it was cut for, but I'm thinking it could have been for an aux input cable. If so, I just can't figure out why somebody would have removed said input. What should I look for to determine if that's what was there?
I'm looking for the least expensive way to get ipod or mp3 playback from the system without using an crappy FM modulator or an mp3 CD in the front slot.
