Default just bought a retrofit kit and wont work!!!!

    hello i bought a

(Media Interface (UCI) Retrofit for C, GLK, new E & Coupe )

recently for my 2009 US C63 AMG as i only have the auxillary hookup for my ipod and i would like it to charge and show up on the nav screen and run it from the center console knob.

So I took it to a dealer to get it installed, but the dealer tried to do the install today and has told me that this kit will not work for a C63..

Does this make any sense, I believe i bought the correct kit and read that it would work for a left hand drive w204,

I cant think of any reason why it would work for a regular c class and wouldnt work for a C63....

Please if anyone knows anything about this please help as i have spent alot of money on this and would really like it to work!

    Thank you all,

    Joel

Add the UCI option to your datacard.

Online Flash update the Head Unit with a new SCN code.

Provided that all is correctly installed. Will work.

Age of car has nothing to do with it.

    Hi

It is the right kit. He can find the installation process in his 'WIS' system (the MB workshop info system). I have installed a few of these.

Once installed, the dealer must do what Miro has said, which is in the retrofit document on WIS.

There are also instructions as to how to install this kit on Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits (select your country, then select W204) however the comandonline kit has the power wiring to go all the way back to the rear fusebox, so that can be run to there instead of finding a suitable +12v at the front

    Cheers

Default this is what dealership said

been talking with dealer and they still say cant do it this was there explanation:

here is the response i got from the engineering, i was right this can not
be done with this vehicle, cannot be done, and you can't view the ipod in
the display, only in the cluster.

These two arrangements are often used with a great deal of confusion and
leave it up to the mighty Germans to create - yet another - set of
confusing acronym. But your understanding is 100% correct.

UMI: Universal Media Interface ---> this has no Option Code (SA
Code) // actually, there's a SA code but nothing you can see on the VMI
anyway therefore for our exercise, no, no SA code. This is
MB/Accessories Option which can be retrofitted but only if you have a
    Audio 20 (Entry head unit)

UCI: Universal Connectivity/Connection Interface SA Code 518 fully
integrated into the MOST network, diagnosable etc... and can ONLY be
installed in a vehicle with COMAND head unit (SA Code 512)

You have a COMAND --> you can't install UMI --> UMI => for Audio 20 only
UCI is x-factory only, you can't retrofit one even if you wanted to. SCN
coding won't allow you to do that.

That is correct, the SA code added is 56o and all that does is to enable the NAV menu in the cluster, BUT you don't have UMI. UMI has been renamed to Navigation 20 (or Navigation +4 I think in USA)

It can also be installed in a vehicle with code 527, and I beleive works in a car with the AUdio-20 as long as it has CD changer

And that is where he is WRONG. UCI is not ex Factory only. There are retrofit instructions in WIS (their dealer technical manual). and you have bought the UCI retrofit kit.

If you email the people you bought it from, they may be able to have option 518 added to the datacard by a friendly (clueful) dealer then all your MB tech has to do is SCN code the system and do initial startup.

    Cheers
