Default Retrofit Facelift W211 Bi-Xenon to pre facelift possible?

    Hi,

planning to facelift my european LHD MY2004 W211.226, and have some problems with wiring the facelift Bi-xenons. The car is equipped with Bi-xenons (opt. 615).

The "analog" lighting is pretty straight forward and I believe I only need to wire the existing harness to the connector S1 on the new facelift Bi-xenons with a rep. kit. But the difference seems to be that the low beam now is controlled by CAN instead of connecting to the front SAM(s) if I understand it right by looking at the diagrams in WIS.

So, the question is if it is possible to wire them to the CAN by the connector S2 and what else need to be wired up?

Is it possible to do, and if so, what is needed?

Thankful for all help I can get!

    BR

I think there are now 3 types of BiXenon.

    - Standard BiXenon

    - BiXenon with cornering function (lamps turn left and right)

    - BiXenon with Intelligent lighting system.

The CAN function you refer to is not just part of the Lamp itself but also needs needs new fuse boxes (SAM) and additional modules for support which can support the new coding. Probably need to update your central gateway and also the instrument cluster.

It appears you are trying to install the ILS variant and this would be the most difficult and expensive on a pre-facelift car.

    Thank you for your answer.

The new units are standard Bi-xenon. The old ones should be with cornering according to the datacard (but I have never seen them move sideways...).

The not so ridicolously expensive solution then seems to be to split the units and use the facelift look parts with the old housings with electronics.

if you only want the appearance then perhaps that is possible but there is no certainty the parts will fit.
