Thread: MCS II vs. APS NTG2

Hi,

I am relocating from California to Germany with my 2007 ML 350 (incl. command MCSII with rear view camera, multi CD player and all the fancy extras). I have done some research in many web forums regarding the command system for an EU navi DVD and as a non-expert am truly overwhelmed by the compatibility discussion.
I am looking for someone to objectively tell me what my options are regarding the future use of my command system.
It sounds as if MCS II will not work in Europe. And I guess it would be to simple to expect such thing as a European navi DVD for MCS II devices (vs. APS NTG2).
If I wanted the command system to work, what would be required?
Who could arrange for this?
What about the rear view camera?
Is there a guesstimate of expenses?
Or would it be just smarter to leave everything as is and go for a simple, portable navi device in case navigation is needed?

Clearly you will have to replace the head unit COMAND and perhaps also the phone module.

You might consider installing NTG 2.5 from 2008 ownards. This is another possible road.
