Default W164 COMAND and cd changer.

    Hi,

new to MB ownership, and need a little help.
I have a 2008 ML320CDI which I have fitted COMAND to, and the Nav is working, but I thought it would have sent the turn instructions to the small display in the instrument cluster? Am I mistaken, or does this facility need turned on with the MB Star diagnostics? The unit I sourced was the correct part number for a W164 2007 build, which appears no different from my car.

Also hadn't read enough to realise that I would not be able to listen to CD and have NAV at the same time, (Impatient) Is a multichanger the only answer , and is it an easy fit, does it need STAR to enable? I have tried to understand if the glovebox mounted cd unit is specific to the W164 range, or if I can buy changer from other Merc models, and then use the multichanger mounting kit advertised in numerous places, but to no avail, I just get confused!

Hope someone can help, loving the car, a little frustrated by the details....

    Hi

I'm going to assume your car is pre Model Year 2009.

The optional CD changer is in the glovebox, it is actually hidden above it, and there is a silver button that causes it to drop down which you can see when the glovebox is open, near the centre console (but in the glovebox).

Unless there are disks in the CDC, the CDC button on COMAND (having pressed Audio) is greyed out.

Hold down the button on the CDC to eject a CD, or to put it into 'insert' mode - but there are full details of how to enter 'load all' or 'eject all' mode in the manual.

If you do not have a manual, look here

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: Mercedes Navigation manuals :: Comand APS manual for ML, GL, R Class cars
