Retrofit Bluetooth into 2006 S500
My goal is to utilize the Mbrace wiring that's already in my car to retrofit a bluetooth adapter for my Blackberry and other Bluetooth equipped phones.
I just bought a used 2006 S500 (WDBNG84J76A482549) which has Mbrace installed but no phone. I've seen advertisements for part # B67876131 which is exactly what I want - but my armrest does not have the connector shown in the advertisements. Instead I have the Mbrace "i" and "wrench" and a grill that I assume hides the microphone.
I unscrewed three hex-nut screws to peek underneath and there are LOTS of wires coming and going to the Mbrace system - but nothing that looks quite like the connector shown in the photo's.
There is a post here (2008 CLK350 Pre Wired for Phone?) which seems to describe a very similar situation. I'm not opposed to a bit of tinkering (ham radio operator, very handy) but I was confused by "I bought the MHI for the trunk". Sounds like I need the MHI, the connector for the puck, and the puck - but I can't find much info about the MHI online.
I'm sure that my dealer could do this for $2K but I'm not interested in spending that much.
Suggestions would be very welcome, thanks!
