    Default W211 E55 Viseeo MBU1000 not detected

    Hi,

This is a great Q&A board & has helped me out before. Have searched & couldn't find an answer to this puzzle though:

Bought a Viseeo MBU1000 about a month ago & it was working nicely. Took it out of the car when it went to Mercedes for some warranty work including a new battery & new battery control module software.

Upon replacing the MBU1000 the lights don't come on on the MBU1000. The info in the dash display says "insert telephone".

Have checked the 7 + 2 pins at the bottom of the phone, they all look OK & not bent.

Wondering if I need to pull a fuse & reseat it? If so, which one? Have done a reset on the Comand System, but no change.

Any help would be gratefully received. At the moment I can't tell whether its the Viseeo or the car that is playing up.

Returning the car to the dealer is not ideal - about 100 miles away (long story...!)

    Thanks
    Andy

The viseeo can be powered from a standard Nokia phone charger (the older type with the larger connector).

So, if you can find one of those you can power up the Viseeo and see if its that. Assuming its working it will power up and pair with your phone without being connected to the Nokia cradle.

Often the Nokia curly-cable cradles in the W211 fail because the wires in the curly cable break, or the power connections contacts break. If the power connection contacts break then a Nokia 6310i will still work (as it uses its own battery) but won't charge.

Thanks for the reply Richard, I'll get hold of an old Nokia charger & try to power the Viseeo.

Your reply has me wondering whether something wasn't reconnected properly during the work that my car was in for - aside from the new battery, they did some work to fix the keyless go function, including fitting a new Electronic Selector Module.

But the first step is proving the Viseeo is still good.

Thanks again, I'll report back with the results.

That was a useful tip - thanks Richard. The Viseeo does power up on its own with a Nokia charger & pairs with my own phone.

Looks like a problem with the cabling / connections within the car.

The display says "please insert phone", so presumably the system is detecting it has a phone kit. Are there accessible connections that I can check, or a fuse I can pull & reseat? (My sat nav sprang into life after doing exactly that).

    Thanks again
    Andy
