SL 350 WDB 230 2003 BOSE COMMAND with CDC
No Bass, Sub Woofer dead. However Comand unit Bose amp settings work fine (ambient size etc) Sound is fine through all door and rear shelf speakers. I have removed the sub, as some one suggested it has an amp in side, not so its just a drive unit. The Cone and driver appears fine, I have checked the two leads that go to sub wit a basic volt meter, 0v with comand off and around 4v voltage when comand is powered up. not keen on shelling out £300 plus to MBUK for replacement sub, maybe amp? Anyway stuck now, maybe Richard A has some ideas? |

2003 SL with BOSE should not have an active sub (well, 2004 definetly does not) - it has two (purple from memory) wires that run to the BOSE amplifier under the compartment with the CD changer behind left seat.
Did you actually see the amplifier ? (2009 SL with Harmon Kardon does have active sub (well, the subwoofer amp is bolted to the side of the subwoofer) I just removed BOSE system from my 04 SL - which has the same technology as yours.. all going to eBay soon !! The RHD and LHD subwoofers are different (as always under the passenger footwell plate) The amp is below the left rear compartment. Some disassembly instructions are on Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits. Richard |
