Just had a service on my 2002 SLK32 AMG and a clunk from the back on setting off was found to be play in the n/s drive shaft. You can grab the shaft and it has nearly an inch of movement in the diff/wheel hub direction. There is no such play on the other side. The dealership recommends a new complete shaft at great expense. Is the driveshaft the same as all SLK's or is it a special AMG part ? I can then find a s/h one or are the individual parts available to repalce whats' worn.
