Hello Board, I had the VCM retrofitted and the language changed at our local dealer quite some time ago. This task should ask for an option code being added to the data card (no need to remove an existing code because the car did not previously have voice control with a different language).
Now I've looked at EPC and the 390 option code still does not appear on the EPC data card. Shouldn't the change appear at EPC too, not only some other database that SDS would use, otherwise I would (theoretically) get incorrect spare parts. Or is there a conflict with the MOST fibre parts, the fibre at the car is different from what comes with 390 (although the 390 fibre would be fine for the car as it is now)? I'm a bit afraid that the local MB workshop actually took care of the language change with an outdated Star, I had a look at old versions and it seemed to be possible without on-line access (which the workshop certainly has). I'm puzzled about the exact task the workshop took, I could always go and ask but I'd prefer some homework done first to be a step ahead of them (which usually isn't difficult but now I need help from experts). I have difficulties figuring out why they would have preferred to avoid the on-line approach with up-to-date tools, after all I could have done this for free myself. If an option code is added when a retrofit task is completed, should the option code appear at EPC and if yes, does it take any significant time? |

The datacard only needs to be updated where the head unit is SCN coded (i.e the coding of it is taken from the central database using the datacard - thus datacard needs to show the option)
It takes some months for stuff to make it from VeDOK into EPCnet. The VeDOK entries can be seen by anyone with a TIPS subscription. You can register/pay for TIPS in the same way you register for EPCnet The 'Entry for Retrofits & Modifications' should update VeDOK directly if logged in with the appopriate priviliges. If you PM me your chassis nr, I will look it up in TIPS Richard |

If I look at DAS, it instructs the option code for the VCM to be changed if the module is flashed for a different language, like from 813 to 390. Now I did not have the code 813 previously which is why I would assume no need for "-813" but the new "390" should have been entered.
I have access to TIPS too but the data card there is the same, no entry for 390. Thank you for the comments. |

This is a 221.122, build date from 07/2006. I can PM the VIN if you are interested. The info so far is quite sufficient for me, thanks.
