I have fitted a Comand unit into my CLK 2007 (UK), the radio worked fine but I needed to get the phone and Sat Nav working so visited a independent merc bloke to use the Star programme. He got the phone working but the Sat Nav will not work. Star shows no errors and does not say why it isn't working. I have tried a couple of different DVD's but none work. Also the phone does not display in the dash - anyone any ideas and if I need to take it to a 'good' comand specialist does anyone have any suggestion in the north of the UK?
Many thanks Jim |

Did the phone display on the dash before ? Do you get any Audio display or are you getting the phone display but nothing in it. If you had it before and its completely gone then the man with Star turned it off by mistake when he turned on the Navigation menu.
I assume your car had the phone in it already and you have fitted the DVD based COMAND - is that correct ? (rather that forcing an incorrectly shaped newer unit in) Satnav should just work - there is nothing to configure -, you probably have the wrong disk - the disk you want is this one: - Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: Mercedes Navigation Disks :: Comand APS Map DVD Europe 2010/2011 (V12.0) for A,B,W203 C,CLK,ML,R,GL, Sprinter, Viano, Vito If you get near Woking (Surrey), I suggest seeingw Comand (Europe) Ltd - Great Deals on Mercedes Comand & Retrofitting Installations Cheers Richard |

Thanks Richard, I did have the phone working before (audio 20), but looking at another thread it suggests that because I'm using an iphone and have just updated to ver 4 software, that this is the reason the names do not display correctly on the command or the dashboard ( I do get numbers but no information). This thread suggests there is little to do but wait for an updaye from apple.
As regards the Sat Nav, it is as you say a DVD version and is the correct type (w209). At present when I put the DVD supplied with the unit in, the sat nav attempts to load, the screen goes black, then reverts to the audio screen a few moments later saying Nav not available when I press the Nav button. I assume you reckon that the DVD supplied might be a poor copy, hence the suggestion to buy a new one. Are you also suggesting I need the latest version because it needs to do some sort of upgrade from this DVD? At over £200 I would do that if I knew that was definitely the fault but am a little wary if its only 'might be'. Do you know if an earlier version of the DVD will work, which could be bought cheaper as a trial before I invest in the latest version? Many thanks for your thoughts so far. Jim |

Hi
The iPhone contact problem is the iOS V4 :-( I think you should try a map disk V10 or later - they do have new firmware on them - I would always use an original not a copy - they behave better - even if this means using an older version that the most-up-to-date. Cheers Richard |

Again Richard many thanks for your reply and contact.
I realised after the last contact that I could get a friend who also has a CLK and try their DVD - so I did and the same problem. The screen says the Sat Nav is not activated, when you load the DVD is says wait, then the screen goes black, something tries to appear then the sat nav closes and the radio screen re-appears and carries on as normal. Does this suggest I have a bigger problem and is it solvable?. I hear Comand UK in Woking can do repairs - do you know if this is true? Thanks Jim |

I don't think they do repairs, but they will be able to do some diagnosis for you - use contact function on Comand (Europe) Ltd - Great Deals on Mercedes Comand & Retrofitting Installations
