Default 2002 SLK Phone Retrofit options

I bought a new 2002 SLK with no phone, no CD changer. Subsequently I have put in a MB cd changer (a pull from a crash or upgrade) and had MB dealer upgrade the Telaid system when the AMPS (norh american analog phone system) was shut down.

So upon reading up on the subject I'm totally confused as to my options.

Is it likely (or how can I determine if) I have an MHI connector?

Is it likely (or how can I determine if) the car was pre-wired for a phone
cradle even though no cradle is installed?

I understand that the phone/radio integration is via the fiber optic network,
what are my options for integration with the radio and built in microphone
other than the V60 cradle and bluetooth adapter, MB or non-mb without replacing the radio? Where can I source these components (new or used)?

Do any of these options conflict with having the CD changer installed?

I've also read something about voice dialing and voice control of the radio, Is that a feature of this generation radio or was that on later/higher end models?

    Any information is appreciated.

    Hi

    Sorry for delay.

You need to retrofit the D2B phone system - there is a kit here: -

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes Phone/Bluetooth :: Phone System Retrofit Kits :: Phone retrofit kit for D2B based cars

(you won't get charged the EU sales tax (VAT) as you are outside EU)

There may be some pre-wiring, but just ignore it, it wont be for the MHI/UHI system, and you want MHI/UHI. It won't conflict with the CD changer, you have to just add the D2B system to the fibre opic loop - the kit above has the necessary joiner to do that.

It may be possible to add voice dialing, but normally it was only an option for cars with COMAND and I suspect the steering wheel parts may not be available for a 02 SLK.

PS, after you've added the kit, you will need a UHI phone cradle, I suggest this Bluetooth adapter which works properly in the D2B cars: http://www.comandonline.co.uk/ViseeO...edes-Benz.html

D2B is the Audio technology in the R170 SLK ..
