Default W163 not unlocking like it should

Since I bought the vehicle 2nd hand, whenever pressing unlock from the remote unlocks ALL the doors from the first press and not just the driver door.

Where can I begin to trouble shoot this?

The operation of all doors or driver only is covered in the owners manual.

It is controlled by the key and it can be altered but holding down two buttons on the fob till it blinks.

The guys at the merc workshop also told me this, but it seems that the W163 still has the older flip out key which doesnt support this feature you are talking about. If I am incorrect, which 2 buttons do I need to hold down?

If its a facelift (MY2002, with indicators in the mirror housings) onward, there is some combination of pressing buttons in the car to switch the operating mode over. Its described in the manual.

If is before that I think it is possible but it needs Star Diagnosis to switch it over - I may be wrong there, its 10 years since I last looked at the pre facelift W163.

Cheers

Richard

Thanks for the help thus far, it is the face lifted model. I've read the user manual as well but no info on this subject. Think I need the star diagnosis module!
