Default COMAND Update Gone Bad

I have an '08 C350 (W204) and received the COMAND update v6 through a group buy on another forum. I inserted the DVD and answered yes to upgrade the current version (20060902...I think) to 20090902 (again, I think thats what I saw). The upgrade stopped at 65% and ejected the DVD and is now showing the message 'Please Insert Navigation Update DVDNo.1'. I have reinserted the DVD and it continues from the 65% mark for a moment then the cycle repeats. I can back out of this screen by changing the mode to radio and when I return to Navi there is another message stating 'Activating Navigation Please Wait'. This message remained on the screen for the hour it took me commute to work this morning.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Using the diagnostic. The navigation data needs to be disabled. That will accept a disc again.

Pardon my ignorance but I have no idea what your reply means. Is there a diagnostic menu within the COMAND system I can access to disable the navigation data? Is this the same area as the 'engineering' menu I keep hearing about? I have not been able to find any instructions on how to access this menu.

Thank you and I appreciate your time.

You need the Star Diagnosis (diagnostic tool) - which means your dealer needs to do it.
In the 'control unit adaptations' menu (on Star diagnosis) you can 'delete' the navigation data and then re-install

You could see if it possible in the engineering menu - entering engineering menu on W204 is described in my W204 Media Interface retrofit document on Comand Online Ltd

I dont see how it was your fault. It can happen that the HDD is not being nice.

Yes it's certainly possible. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again
