I have a 2004 ML55 W163 with comand factory fitted. My Comand doesnt display any RDS info. Is this a simple firmware upgrade or does it need a newer hardware tuner?

RDS is a function of the radio stations or perhaps it is switched off in the preferences.

My friend fitted an aftermarket Comand to his W163. It looks exactly like mine. Except he has RDS functionality on his radio station. I dont have ANY RDS functionality on ANY radiostation. He also has a preference tab in the FM/AM mode which I dont where he can enable radio data services. Does anyone know why this is?

Sounds like you have different firmware versions.

Do you know perhaps where I can download firmware ISOs? MB doesnt want to sell me the disk.

If you have a USA unit and he has a EU unit that may explain the missing RDS text.

Don't do firmware updates with copied disks - they are harder for the laser in the CD player to read and more fail to read the disk - and you don't want that to happen during a firmware update.
