Hi, I have a year 2000 CLK 430 Cabriolet. I know that the ex owner spent £900 at a Merc Specialist on pads and disks all round the week before he sold to me as I have the receipts here.
The brakes are great at stopping the car BUT I really have to push a way down to get them to start working which kind of leaves my foot on the brake for too long, like riding the clutch would do on a manual. Also means brake lights on for longer than they should be. I owned the car 7 years ago and when I owned it had 50k miles on and the brakes were fantasic, you just touched them and slowed. I re purchased the car last month with now 113,000 K on clock. I wondered if this can be adjusted? The chap I bought the car from is in Carlisle nearly 400 miles away and he had the brakes done by a MB specialist Carlisle so I can't return it there! Thanks |

Try changine the brake fluid first.
If not then get some stainless braided brake hoses. They make a massive difference.

Look at the vacuum hoses and see if there is a crack in the plastic line or a leak in the vacuum line which goes to the interior of the car.
