Default 2003 C320 MC3010 conversion to Dension Gateway Lite

I have a 2003 C320 with a MC3010 CD Changer installed in the glove box. I purchased a Dension Gateway Lite which should work in this car. I thought I could remove the CD changer and use the fiber and low volatage wires to plug directly to the Gateway, or at least use the cables provided by Dension to connect to the car's existing fiber and wires.

Has anyone done this before? The local car audio says they want $200 to do the installation. They say it will take 3 hours. I just can't see how that can be.

Thanks in advance.

Once the CD stacker is removed you have all you need in terms of power, wakeup and optical.

Do they supply an electrical converter cable ? Let us know.

They provide cables, but they don't appear to be a direct mate to the ones in the car. There is some documetation here

The fiber adapter cable has a strange construction. The side that should connect to the car has two connectors. One fits the existing car connector, but one of its fiber strands goes to a second connector, which is not the connector for the Gateway Lite. I thought fiber needs to work in loops (send, receive like in twisted pair cables).

The electrical connector has a molex on the Gateway side and is unterminated on the car side. The car's molex will not fit the Gateway, so I have to splice the cable. I will need to know the wire assignments on the car side. There is a blue/black, red/black and brown wire.

Thanks for trying to help.

All you need is for someone to make you a mating connector out of the splice wires you have. That would be a gender change and then it will plug right in.

The optical side ... no idea. I am certain it can be done more easily with photos to richard or myself.

If you can master the photo publishing method for this site then please submit them in public.
