Default ipod/mp3 connection

Hello , i recently looked at a sprinter 515 2010 model which had a AUDIO 20 system fitted and it also had a 3.5 mm socket wired into the back of the Audio 20 via the 12 pin white plug at the bottom of the quad lock connector so an IPOD /MP3 player could be played through the AUX input ,However no sound could be played via this lead and i ended up disconnecting it and wiring in an FM MODULATOR so the sound from the Ipod/mp3 could be heard through the spks ,Any idea why the lead would not work via the Aux input ? Thanks Andy

You need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead. Some leads won't work on some iPods as the socket on iPod is recessed, so make sure you get an iPod compatible one.

Also, you need to select the AUX input. This (on Audio-20) is done by holding down the CDC button for a few seconds

If you have steering wheel buttons / cluster LCD display you can put the iPod kit in easily enough

Hi Richard , i had the 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead connected to the socket on the dash and to my Iphone and then pressed the DISC button on the AUDIO 20 set ,in the bottom left corner of the screen it said AUX and i chose this option by using the Left/Right tuning button ,but still got no sound , this unit is not the 6 disc changer unit so it does not have the CDC button ,i have even spoke to a Mercedes Dealer who rather reluctantly did tell me it was a problem they were having too and they were waiting for some info from Germany .Thanks

The AUX is disabled by default. The system is designed for UCI which perhaps is not installed. In order for this connection to work, the AUX input must be set correctly and any references to UCI in the headunit need to be removed.
