Default w212 tracker horizon problems?

I will shortly take delivery of a w212 saloon and am considering having a Tracker Horizon fitted. Has anyone experience of this device? Are there any problems after the cars wiring has been broken into?

Default Tracker Horizon or no tracker at all !!

I have had tracker horizon on some of my previous cars, and had no issues with it at all.

In fact, I even had a stolen car recovered (followed by police, who still failed to get the person who stole it) which I think had Horizon on it as the operator knew where it was (so it must have been reporting its position rather than needing a receiving device).

However, the car that was stolen was the only car that I put it on where it was not an insurance requirement. I have not bothered since because in fact I woud have preferred not to have had the car back - because
a) I had to pay for storage overnight by police while they fingerprinted it
b) I had to put a new mirror on it where they hit my gate post
c) I had to have the lost key disabled.
The total of that was a few hundred quid but not enought to make an insurance claim. So I had paid a load of cash for the tracker, the subscription and then a load more. If I had thought more at the time I should have paid for GAP insurance (substantially less) and not seen the car again !!!

The only thing that I cant bear to watch is how the installers randomly solder wires into the car when perfectly good slots are open.

for example. In a relay + fuse power source from the rear fuse box, the rear window wiper position is usually available in saloons. Yet I see people soldering all over the place randomly.

Not only does that position have a fuse but its unique to that function. So you can require it have 5 amp or 20amp as needed.
