Default removing centre console facelift CLS

Hi, I know how to remove centre console/gearlever surround on pre-facelift cars, but it doesn't seem to work for facelift models. The cover wont budge at all and the centre part is not seperate as on the earlier models. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I need to get to the back of the ashtray unit. Cheers, Bob.

Pull up the gear lever suround with the c/s switch leaving the wood trim in place. The wood trim then pulls up from the front edge when you release the friction catches that you can see through the hole where the surround was. There is on on each end of the front edge. The wood panel is hooked in at the armrest end.

Hi Richard. Mine has the dark birds eye maple console which is in one piece. There is a small plastic chrome effect oval trim which comes off but the whole panel is one piece! Bob.

I've just done one of these today. The leather gear knob surround unclips from the rest of the panel (push in at sides, you can see it).

Once that is out, you can see the 2 clips that hold the panel in at the front, push them in with screwdriver whilst pulling up, once up, the panel slides forward to come out
