Default E55 seat swap

I was going to swap the Artico seats in my 06 E class Sport for a set of leather AMG seats from an 06 E55 AMG.

My seats only have electrical adjustment for height and recline, and manual for front to back, but the AMG seats have full electrical adjustment for everything.

Can it be done and what do I need?

Thanks,
Stuart.

The E55 probably has memory fully electric seats, and may have multi-contour or dynamic seats, and may have heated seats (probably) and/or ventilated (possibly) seats.

If the seats are multicontour (and if you want that to work) you have to add some pipework and a vacuum pump (which goes in the trunk on left hand side so if you still have access to the E55. go get it and it's wiring). Similar but a bit extra wiring needed for dynamic seats (and some coding of the cluster) (there will be a dynamic button on the seat)

To add heated seats you need to change the lower control panel (to one with heated seat buttons) and the heated seat wiring loom. Same is true with ventillated seats.

If the seats have memory, then again you need to fit a new wiring loom in the car for the memory, and if I remember right the memory and seat control is on the door panel and not on the side of the seat - if this is true you need the appropriate switch pack in the door, possibly a door controller, and possibly the door panel (sorry I can't recall how the switches fit)

All AMG seats can be fitted with ventilation.

Looking at photos on the MBENZNL website and having worked with several mirror upgrades myself there maybe be a chance it is just a wood change. The wood needs to have the holes in it and I see to recall that the switches were held in place by screw posts with fasteners to tie them down.

The only way to know for sure is to remove the door planel. There are a number of things that changed in the 2006 model which were "presumed" in earlier models and no longer applied in 2006.

Benzmodz's post has reminded me.

When I retrimmed my ML seats with the AMG leather (i.e same seats, just new leather coverings), I also had to
a) replace the backrest bolster cushions (they are more curved at the sides providing more support). I didnt change the bases cushion, but see below.
b) chose between the cushions with or without the fan holes for ventilation - I went with the ones with the fan holes incase I ever add them.
