Default Detailed instructions on torsion bar lift?

Hallo everyone

I need to get some more detail concerning the 1" lift on a W163 Ml through the torsion bars.
Approximately how many full turns is needed on the torsion bar adjusting nut in order to lift it 1"? Do both nuts (left and right side) needs to be turned clockwise or in opposite directions of each other?

I have turned my left torsion bar adjusting nut clockwise for about 10 full turns, but I got stuck on the right side after about 5 turns. The right side is VERY DIFFICULT to turn and I used a longer tool to turn it up to 7 turns.

I have released the left side to 7 turns so that both sides have equal amount of adjustment.

Initially I have gained 25mm, but after measuring today it seems now it is only 15mm.

Any info, suggestions or advise would be most welcome!

Hi again

It has been pointed out to me that the right side was actually on its limit.

There was quite a difference between left and right side. Now I have set both sides to a similar amount of adjustment by setting both sides to maximum and work from there back a couple of turns.

I will do a wheel alignment in the next couple of days and then I will know whether everything is within limits.
