Question Why my W204 C300 NTG4 comand doesn't have the GPS Navi Sys?

I bought a W204 C 300 with NTG4 Comand, made in China. The factory deactivated the navi system. But the navi sys is always in the HDD, just be concealed. I reactivate the navi sys through the egineering menu of NTG4 Comand.

Here come two problems:

1. The car can not recieve the satellite signal. Shown as the photo. The displayed latitude and longitude are totally wrong!

I run the Circuit Check in Egineering Menu. It shows 'GPS antenna NG', error code 00000100.

What does the code '00000100' mean? Any suggestion about this? I think maybe there is no GPS antenna installed in my car at all? How can I check it? Where is the antenna, in the roof antenna? How the antenna connect to the comand unit head? Which cable or fakra?

Here are more shotcuts of my comand:

2. There is only a euro map, no China Map. I'm thinking that if I can put a China Map, copied from New E-class with NTG4, which have a usable navi in China, into the HDD of mine to make it work? Someone seem to have attempted that, but failed. Should I copy or clone the HDD? Maybe there is a identification code in NTG4, that different car with NTG4 can not share one HDD?

I really need some help... And your help would do many w204 C class and GLK class owners in China a big favour . It's not fair that we pay for the same NTG4 Comand but can't enjoy the Navi~~~~~~Thanks! Best regards~~~~~~

Star Diagnosis will tell you the same information that the Navigation tells you.

You need to remove the head unit to inspect the connections. Since it was previously disabled you will notice that the report reads GPS=OPEN which means it is not present. There is no antenna installed.

If you want to install a map you may consider installing the map from the original DVD which downloads into the HDD.

Or you can install a W212 head unit into a W204 and make some small changes.

Thx for your advice. But cables behind the head unit really make me confused. Which connector in the back of head unit is for the antenna? What color or shape is it? Fortunately, I just got a pic of the back of head unit, same as mine.
Here it is:

Could you plz indicate the certain positon where the Antenna should connect to in the pic? Really appreciate~~~ Thx again

Fortunately, according to the part number, I googled and found some pics of the antenna

According to these pic, any ideas about where to connect the antenna in the back of head unit? And where the antenna should be installed in? I think it should be installed in the IC.

It looks to me that your car has the GPS antenna wiring. The GPS antenna goes on the roof (fin on roof) - have a look at the wiring and see if something is disconnected there or whether you just have a wire waiting to be plugged in and have to change the roof antenna

That antenna you show is the retrofit antenna , but the little connector adapter is for NTG2/NTG2.5 - your car has NTG4 so wiring different

PS, here is picture of the antena - this one has wiring for phone, GPS and DAB

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes DAB retrofit kits :: W204/W212/W207 Gloss Black roof antenna (GSM/GPS/DAB)

It comes black, or colour to be sprayed. Silver may be available pre-sprayed although MB seem maybe not to make the pre-sprayed one any more.

Richard

[ps, from memory the blue double connector has the bluetooth and GPS antennas on W204]
