Default R171 Folding Mirrors (what coding needed)?

When I retrofitted folding mirrors to our W211, Mercedes dealer was easily able to program instument cluster and whatever else to enable the multifunction display menu for selection of automatic folding.

Have now installed motors and switch in my R171 (2006) and neither dealer nor a local independent with STAR can figure out how to program this feature. Mirrors work properly using switch, but of course the job isn't finished until automatic folding is programmed.

No USA SLK was equipped with folding mirrors ex factory and I believe this is the case with W211 as well.

What's different about the SLK?

Does anyone know the steps to success?

I havent actually looked at a SLK for a long while now ...

But I assume the dealer couldn't find the option in the Instrument Cluster coding.

Get the independant or dealer to look in the CGW or EIS (some EIS (W203 for instance) have CGW functions in them) for folding mirrors. Some of the model range's clusters ask the CGW what the car has and then behave based on that (for instance tyre pressure loss warner in W211,W203) rather than being coded in the cluster coding.

(When he/she is coding in the CGW, look at the 'ALL CODES' option in the list of things that can be coded)

I assume it's been turned on in the front SAM and the door controllers, otherwise I dont think they would fold when you press the fold button.

The door modules and system diagnose must also be coded.

Check the preference in the cluster is also set to FOLD = ON

As a last resort make sure that the door module actually has pins ! They removed the connection for folding from some door modules since that was never installed in some countries.
