Default Soft close on power closing tailgate S211

Hi All,
The soft close feature on my power closing tailgate doesn't work on my S211.
When I hit the button, the door closes ok but according to WIS, the final closing stage should be 'soft closing.'

If I pull the door down manually, the soft close feature works ok, but on auto close it just slams.
WIS states that the pump (driving the actuator) should shut off just BEFORE the tailgate reaches the home position, and the final closing is performed by the soft close bit. But on mine the pump seems to be running on for a second or two longer.

I've seen on an American forum there was a recall in the States for this problem whereby the tailgate door contoller was replaced with a modified part.

My dealer says there's no such thing in the UK.
My indy hasn't come across many power closing tailgates and therefore unable to shed any light.

I've asked on other forums but not got a definitive answer.

As this is a site of gurus, I was hoping someone here might have seen this fault before?

Any help gratefully received.

The only thing I would be looking at is
- tailgate position sensor
- door seal sensor
- tailgate latch (which raises up to meet the door)

The rubber ring that goes all the way around the cars tailgate has a pressure senstive stip in it. If that isnt working then it willl cause the pump to perform without sensing the door is closed and only cuts out when the pressure increases.

Similarly with the position sensor and the latch. However, I would tend to think that if the latch were broken in some way, such as a contact sensor inside the latch, that the soft closing function would not work. I would get down very low to the bumper and see if the latch is meeting the door. If not then look at a suitable lubricant.

Try not to use WD40 because it stinks.

I was also thinking along the lines of the position sensor.
WIS states that this sensor tells the pump when to switch off.

But there doesn't seem to be any way to re-calibrate pr re-set this sensor.
