Default W163 with Diff lock?

Since this is the GURU forum, I will post my question here.
What is the possibility of fitting a rear difflock (or front and rear) on the W163 ML?
I know ETS prevents getting stuck, but the ETS allows wheelspin before activating and cause a lot of heat and wear and tear on the brakes if you do a lot of off road driving.
Also, the W164 with Off road package has got diff locks installed, which acknowledge the fact that diff locks are first price concerning offroad.
Are there any way of doing this on a reliable way without having to pay a fortune? How different is the W164 diffs from the W163?
Maybe an ARB locker?
Please advise.

You purchase a W164 because that is the car which has the options you are interested in.

I know the W164 has got diff lockers. That is why I am thinking that the W163 should also be better off with diff lockers.

If money was not an issue, I would have bought a W164 long ago, or even a GL for that matter.

Hi,

I think the costs involved would be huge. Your are better off buying a 164 as it would be cheaper!

Thanks for the advice.
Will lift my Ml, fit bigger tyres and try it in nature trails, mountain passes etc. Will let the ETS do what they can and see how it goes.
Then one day, when I can afford it, I will consider the W164 with the offroad package.
