Default W211 engine problem

I have an E320 cdi 7 sp auto estate, 2005, 3 litre V6. There is an intermittant problem, it happens when accelerating from rest, or when overtaking. The engine hesitates, like a bad misfire. From then on I'm stuck in top gear with no power. I have to pull over and restart the engine, all's fine then - until the next time! Any thoughts? CHIP

Theres so much that could be wrong, so it needs a diagnostic ..

Thanks, I thought you'd say that. I have had an MB diagnostic test carried out some time ago but they were unable to diagnose the fault. So I have just lived with it! Chip.

I'd take it to another MB dealer. It will have logged faults in the transmission or engine management when this happens ... and I'm pretty sure W211 will log the mileage at which the fault occured (so make a note of it when it next occurs)

This is quite a common issue and rarely logs fault codes.

It needs the live data to be looked at closely.
