Default R-Class FogLight Retrofit - Light Switch Question

I have been reading lots of posting from various places about retrofitting the fog light back onto my 07 R-350. (US OEM foglight only comes with Xenon option.) Overall answers I received is - this can be done. My question is actually related to the switch itself. I want to get a replacement switch without the headlight wash function. Question will other light switches from ML or CLS work on the R model? The R foglight switch is extremely hard to find from the recycle market and I'm hoping to find a switch that will match the interior color (OEM R-class foglight switch only comes in black.) Thank You.

The fog light is pretty much in the headlamp.

For clarification.. Are you saying the switch itself (the rotary portion) is identical across models (M, ML & CLS) and the circuit (the plug section) is identical as well? If so, then I guess it is the computer in the backend making the decision. Using the EPC site as reference. I know the light switch part # are read as A219 545 07 04. I know 219 is MB model, 545 is light group, what are 07 & 04 reference to? Are they the actual part number for the switch? For cross-reference purpose, would that be the #s I should check more closely with?

The end 4 digits are not that useful for working out what a part is. The model is the model it first appeared in, i.e never exclusive.

In EPCnet there is a search facility, you can put a part number in that and see what models that appears in, and then look at the other parts used on the model.

You can have the fog lamp switch and the headlamp wash switch.
