Thread: HMS990 Installation on Compact2

Hi Fellow Mercedes warriors.

Would like to ask if ANYONE knows how to install the HMS990 software after a fresh DAS installation on a Compact2 machine, NT4 environment???

Or how to initially install HMS990 as DAS installs the first time around???

No one here has done this as we have genuine Star Diagnosis machines on support contract.

I did find this board that seems to supply (probably breaking some copyright law) Star diagnosis clones that may be able to help

The HMS990 is a specific add on to the Star system to measure wave form

The HMS990 actually seems to be made by AVL

The website I referenced in the 2nd post (jcrecordings) seem to have some info on installing the HMS990 software onto a new install of DAS

The HMS990 comes with a software which installs a registry update into the XP OS of the Star Diagnose.

Next time when you update the system version (month) it will also install the HMS990 software.

You can manually trigger this event if you have the password for ADMIN mode. There are files on the diagnostic HDD which can tell the OS that the HMS990 is present.

However, this script usually comes with the HMS990 unit if it is bought at a later time.

Either way, if you do not have the installer CD for HMS990 or the password for Admin account then you will be out of luck installing this unit unless you can find an expert in XP to help you.
