Default r171 Instrument Cluster Swap (Retrofit an AMG)

Hello,
there is one SLK R171 non-AMG and we have purchased an AMG Cluster

Is it possible to transfer the coding from factory unit to the AMG one?

Do not want to change (and for sure wont) the mileage, just to replace the old one with the AMG and keep all the settings

Thank you in advance!

Assuming the AMG one is new, then I think you can just do it with Star diagnosis loading the old config and then writing the new config, or even just SCN coding it (and adding the mileage back in, so note it down in KM with star diagnosis first)

BUT, I have not done it myself

Following on from Richard.

THe default for many clusters has changed since the first SLK was delivered. You will find that a number of menu functions will be missing in the new cluster. Those functions will be switched off in the new cluster. Also, if you follow the steps correctly you will have no problems. But if you make a mistake the new cluster might turn into a brick.

The hidden functions are in the developer menu of Star Diagnose.

Ok, the developer menu is loaded! I will do the coding transfer and then load in it!
But i am sceptic about the menu functions which will be missing!
I assume i have to code everything from scratch (apart from mileage) or they will be missing no matter what?

I suspect you will have to do 'initial startup' and then code from scratch - but it may just want SCN coding ..
There is an option do do a 'control unit log' - so that on the old cluster and you should then get a dump of every setting possible for reference

Hello guyz!
We did install the cluster and coded everything! (Initial Startup with all the settingas from previous one)

All is working good except trip data (average speed, consumption)
As far as i can see all is good and we got to display the new items (oil temp wich is good and lap timing which is a joke for normal use)

Did you ever come uo with these? Is it supposed to work like that or is it a coding issue?

Thanx in advance!
