Hi,

Can you tell me what parts are needed to fit a front & rear camera for the following vehicle:

CL55k AMG
Year: 2005

Head unit has:
TV (which is working)
Aux1
Aux2

Going by this it should be a simple thing to do, but the customer want everything from Mercedes...

Is that a new or old shape one ? (they changed about then) or better still let me know the chassis/VIN number..

If the car is a W216 then the factory options are available. If the car is a W215 then only a custom solution exists.

Then it has to be a handmade solution. Every part must be selected from other chassis.

There are no "correct" items because that age car did not have cameras, so you are going to have to make something up. I have never tried interfacing the newer cameras to the older systems. But the TV tuner is the same as that in the W164 ML in which the reversing camera is connected to the TV tuner if the car has TV. (to AUX 1)

Therefore i'm pretty sure that you could use the wiring from a ML (and chop it appropriately) to get the rear camera, and if you wait a day or two, Comand Online Ltd will have a kit for the ML which you could buy and chop about.

I dont think you can make the head unit automatically select that when you select reverse, since that is a feature of the software in the head unit that is only in the ML/GL/R class head units.

I suppose you could use the same again for a front camera, and connect to the other AUX, so driver can select either.

The 2005 CL W215 uses a Video-over-MOST TV tuner which is unique to W220, W215 and R230 for this model facelift.

It will not behave like an CODE 863 version TV tuner.
