Default Power Folding Mirrors and Memory Function for W209

Hello again,

my other retrofit would be the installation of power folding mirrors with memory function! When having the reverse gear in, the right mirror (LHD car) tilts downwards and repositions itself after moving forward)

I know that it is possible for the memory function to work, without having the option of the seats with memory function, it has only to do with the door modules!

So i have just bought
Left Power Folding Mirror A209 810 30 16
Right Power Folding Mirror A209 810 31 16
Control Switch A 203 545 07 04 (Has also the Xenon Headlights Washers Button i need for my Bi-Xenons retrofit)

and now i need the part numbers of the control modules, Power Folding and Memory "capable"! Is there anyway for you to tell me or do i have to keep searching for a cars VIN with these options?

Thanx again

Usually the drivers side has all the positions available for memory mirrors. When you order a replacement module it always comes with full options.

When a car has any of these options
- folding
- dimming
- memory

The door module has all the options.

For the passenger side dipping position you need someone to recode your cluster. Provided you have automatic transmission.

So as for the dipping passenger side mirror it is not possible by the time i have a manual tranny? I thin that it is possible and it has been done! Anyway!

I didnt get your message, i dont have in my factory options power folding mirrors nor i have electic seats with memory options!

In that case what door modules do i need? (Both sides? Driver and passenger?) (Can i recode my cars modules?) Do the new modules come coded? If in the future i wish to install electric seats will i need to order a new one(s)?

I do make your day a difficult one, but if there is any chance for you to help me, and i dont get stuck or make a mistake during the retrofit i would be more than thankful

Left hand DCM A209 820 21 26
Right hand DCM A209 820 22 26

There are older part numbers too. This is for cars without Keyless go,

Look at the existing door controller, if there are all the sockets to plug the new mirror in, then you are fine. It looks to me like W209 may always be supplied with the fully optioned door controllers.

In theory they need coding, but theres only 3 or 4 settings and sometimes they are right by default. You will need the cluster coding to enable the 'auto fold on lock' menu item (assuming car is post MY05 facelift)

Also, it is quite likely you need a special tool for the door mirror screws, its like a security TORX with an extra spline.

The special tool was shipped this morning!
My car is post facelift so i will get some pics and part numbers of my current control modules just to be safe...

Some questions:
1) Auto dimming is a glass (mirror) dependable feature or the mirrors actual mechanism ? I believe that the memory feature is coming from the control modules and that all power folding mirrors have that possibility, right?

Coding is not a problem, i have everything to get it done, i just need guidance and you are doing great!

Thank you so much guyz

Yes, but the wiring in the mirror is different - its controlled from the DCM

Memory mirrors differ from normal mirrors in that they have a feedback device so the DCM knows where the mirror is - or it can't remember or put the mirror back there.
Dimming has extra wires from DCM to the mirror glass, the connector on the mirror glass is completely different.
You can of course install that on both sides if you want.

Yes (all that I have seen!)

The 'dip' when reverse function needs memory mirror / DCM because it needs to know where to move the mirror to and where to put it back.

The issue with dipping function in cars without memory is that the seat memory button is used to set up the 'dipped' position on many (maybe not all) Mercedes - (look in the car's manual, you will see what I mean)

Ok, for now i know that both mirrors i have ordered do support the memory function! So i am covered!
Dimming feature is not an issue for me cause my windows have Llumar films so maybe i will look at that in the future!

What i would really like to order is a rear view mirror with these features: 1)Garage door buttons 2) Auto dimming 3) Ambient Lightning 4) Microphones

But it is too expensive as a new part! When i will face a deal i'll go for it and have my passengers/drivers mirrors with dimming features done!

Fow now thanx for all the info!
I will come back when i have more on my cars DCMs

Question: Drivers side glass mirror is auto dimming, which cable is connected with the mirrors socket?

R230 and R171 mirrors can be fitted to W209s mirror housing?
I have found an auto dimming glass mirror for my passengers side mirror (UK drivers side though but i think that this is not an issue)
