All the plugs (blinker, wing motor, dimming, folding motor) go through the mirror and come to one big plug at the end, which gets connected to a plug right behind the tweeter triangle plastic cover.

Take a look on the pictures!

It is weird because of all these retrofits i have heard only a coding for auto folding when locking/unlocking was required after the installation of the mirrors and the switches!

Aha, now I remember !

I've seen a few where you have to code folding in the DCM, and somewhere else (but that may have been for autofolding)

Look in 'actuations' on the DCM in Star, I think you can tell the DCM to fold the mirror. If that works you know the wiring is all there and you have the correct DCM. If it doesn, note down the part number of the DCM (from within star) and we can look it up and see if it looks right

Cheers

I tried the actuations and although switch is alright, giving a signal each time i press folding or extending them mirrors are not working!

So my DCMs are these (most likely not compatible)

What part numbers should i look for in the market? (DCMs compatibe with memory and electric seats are preferred for future mods)

The only DCMs now listed in EPCnet as current are
A209 820 21 26 (left)
A209 820 22 26 (right)

Your ones are no longer listed. So thus 21 26 / 22 26 must support folding

(the predecessor listed in EPC to 21 26 and 22 26 are 01 26 and 02 26)

Was there an 'actuation' in the DCM star menu itself to fold in/out the mirror ?

Cheers

Ps, on ebay is a 20 26 part like yours.

MB Steuergerät A2098202026(01) A 209 820 20 26 (01) on eBay (end time 17-Feb-10 20:23:30 GMT)

It looks like it has all the connections.

There is a used 22 26 part there also

MERCEDES-BENZ CLK DOOR CONTROL UNIT*A2098202226 on eBay (end time 31-Jan-10 10:12:28 GMT)

Yes there was! But it didnt make anything! No folding no extending!

What do you think i should first do before ordering the new DCMs?

My mirrors part numbers are these:

A 209 810 37 16
A 209 810 38 16

As far as i can see, these are the latest part numbers and most expensive exterior mirrors!
Uppon disassembling them i figured that these also have memory motors for the mirror glass! But since i enabled that feature on the right DCM i get a fault considering the glass position motor!

I should point out that these mirrors where bought from uk and were taken apart from a uk spec car (i think that only the housing was different)

The DCM without folding also have not got memory, so that makes sense. (i.e its missing some internal circuits so can not see the mirror position).

So either your DCM does not support folding, or there are wires missing between the DCM and the mirror. I suspect strongly the former since EPCnet does not show different door wiring harness for cars with/without folding.

On older cars if you use a mirror from RHD on LHD car the mirror positioning was upside down ! (easy fixed by a quick re-wire) of the motors. (That was on a R129 SL I did years ago, no idea why they made that happen). But the parts are not different on EPC for LHD/RHD anymore.

Cheers

Ok, but if my cars DCMs do not support folding (and memory if they come together) is it normal for me to see these actuations/adaptations in my DCMs?
i tried both normal and developer licenses in my DAS and i get to see these options!

I will take apart my door cover so that i can see whats going on with the cable going from the DCM to the upper corner of the cover (the one in the pic of this page first post) (were it gets connected with the mirror wiring)! I will post as soon as i make it!

One more, did you check my mirrors numbers? Are they ok?

Thanx a lot for the help Richard

I think you do see the actuations always.

I checked the mirror numbers, but they are not in EPC - but that too is normal..
