The wiring is part of the mirror frame. The wiring in the frame is different between the auto-dim ones and the normal ones because

a) The connector on the mirror glass is different
b) more wires go back to the DCM

So, if you have the correct frames it all just plugs in. If you do not have the correct frames you will need to replace them or 'combine' them by stripping some mirrors with the correct wiring (which is a pain to do)

Take a look on these pics!
In the third picture as you can see there is an empty plug on the mirror! Is it for the auto dimming function? Do i have to buy something and rewire the mirror so that it can work?

This is drivers side mirror, but passengers is also the same after i bought an auto dimming mirror glass from a UK SL car!

Thanx

Guyz, DCMs are ok, now before installing the mirrors can you please tell me what for is that empty socket behind the side mirror glass (Pic 1)?
Will auto dimming, memory, folding functions be working if i just connect that one big wire in the DCM?

Hi
I cant access that picture. What age is the car, some of the older cars (don't know whether this applied to W209 or just W203) had a seperate loom between the mirror and DCM, newer cars the wires were part of the mirrors

Car is a W209 MY2006
There is a problem with the link

You can clearly see the empty socket behind the mirror (i can see the cables running from the loom and going in the Flash Indicator, motor unit and heating...

Here is another try uploading -->

Solution Found!
When i took apart the mirrors i found the upper plug was just fitted in an empty hole, this is because by default only one mirror has a dimming glass (drivers), but both mirrors support it!
So both have the plugs, both have empty holes for the plugs in case you dont have dimming glasses at all, but both will be used in my case! So those plugs that were in holes not going anywhere, will go in my dimming glasses in both sides!

I have enabled the convenience menu with auto folding and parking aid, do i have to enable anythin else so that the auto dimming will be working? (i do not have a rear view mirror with auto dimming yet)

So i have updates!

First pair of mirrors i had ordered was not what i was looking for... so i had to search again!

Right at this moment i finished installing the mirrors!
So i have power folding, with memory and auto dimming mirrors on both sides!
BUT, they are not working...
Switch is also installed (off course)

I suppose my DCUs are not matching right?
Is there anyway to test them right now with DAS? Maybe from the actuation menu or do i have to enable something from the menu? (I have enabled folding on lock/unlock but obviously is not working)

I assume that all the plugs plugged into the DCMs, which means you have the right DCMs

Now you need to enable folding mirrors in
DCMs
and check to see if there is an option in the front sam, and eis (and cgw if present, but normally part of the eis now) (from memory there is a setting in the front sam, look in the 'all codes' section)

Cheers
