Default CLK Sat Nav No Signal [W209]

I have just purchased a 2007 CLK 220CDi. The Sat Nav (APS NTG2 I think) is showing no signal and although the map moves, it bears no reflection to where I am. Also, the Cruise control does not work. Might this be related to the problem. Thank you for any advice offered.

It sounds like one of the speed sensors has failed, so the COMAND and the cruise does not know the speed of the vehicle.

The car will have stored fault codes which will tell a technician what is causing lack of speed signal.

As its 2007, it should be under warranty still, so take it to MB for a free fix !

    Default Thanks.....

The car has had front accident damage now repaired. Will that invalidate the MB warranty?

It shouldnt - unless something in the front end was replaced with non Mercedes parts and that particular thing has failed. MB are pretty good with their warranties unless you have failed to get it serviced and that failure caused the issue (for instance gearbox failure as oil wasnt changed)

Failing speed sensors are bad news because ESP wont like it (and i'm surprised it isnt complaining) - so it may well be something else - and i'd suggest that it needs to go on a Star machine to find out what is wrong.

It has got the correct tyres on all round hasn't it ? Odd stuff can happen when 1 tyre is accidentally the wrong size.

    Cheers

Interesting Richard. I have got an ESP error message and an SRS message too. I'll take it into MB for an opinion. Thank you very much.

Given the SRS and ESP messages i'd be taking it down to MB asap. Both of those are rather useful safety systems, especially with winter coming..

I'm reasonably confident its one of the speed sensors is dead/disconnected - quite probably one of the front ones (there is one on each wheel for ESP to work out what is happening).
