Thread: Mercedes Star Diagnosis

Hi Gurus,

I am very interested in clarifying some details about Mercedes Star Diagnosis

Hope you will give me a hand to understand these issues

1. Can SDS replace or add keys if yes for what model ranges and up to what years?

2. Does it have options like Actuators (injection coil checking, fuel pump relay on/off and etc?)

3. What other option and advantages it has over other scanner?

Star can disable keys - I dont know what models it can add keys for, but afaik nothing past DAS3 which came in around 2000 I think.

Yes, it has 'actuations' for each control unit to perform loads of tests

Advantages over other scanners - significant !! It has all the data rather than stuff missing for certain control units, supports the latest cars properly, can do SCN coding which is needed for coding the new clusters, newer COMAND systems to name a few.

Disadvantages, costs more than other supported scanners & may not be officially available from Mercedes in every country. Have to pay monthly fees for updates and disables itself if data is 3 months old. Of course the clone machines have a way round that.

I'm sure some of the other Guru's will give their views and possibly expand on the Keys question.
