Thread: R320 Rear Camera

We have been supplied some parts for the rear parking camera system for the R320 AMG.

What we need is a full list of items as we think that we have missing parts & also the incorrect camera. We are also waiting on the wiring loom as this is currently being manufatured by Mercedes.

The parts have been purchased by the customer & imported direct from Mercedes in Germany. The diagram that we have from them is off little help......as usual!!

Can you let us know what you have already ?

Looms are sometimes made to order (almost always on W204 for instance) and take a few weeks

Can you PM me the chassis number for the R320 please ? If you cant I need to know
a) Does car have TV (wiring looms are different as with TV the camera plugs into TV tuner AUX 2)
b) Is COMAND the DVD based one or the mid 2008 onward one with Hard disk COMAND

If its DVD based the camera should be A251 820 04 97. You also need modulator (power supply) (A164 543 00 62), main wiring loom, rear door loom and a set of clips for the rear door panel as they all break !

Details of the car as follows:

Mercedes 320L
Sports Edition
V6 CDI AMG
Year: 2006
VIN: WDC2511222AO26034

As far as I can see the vehicle does not have TV or CDC.

I have had Mercedes dealer in to look at the vehicle as they have supplied incomplete & incompatible parts. They are coming back to me in a few days, but I'm not holding my breath!!!

If you could give me as much info that would be great.

The car is MY2006, but reversing camera only came in on MY07, so

1x A251 820 04 97 Reversing Camera
1x A164 543 00 62 Modulator (in fact its a power supply)
1x A251 440 76 07 Rear Door loom (MY07 with rev camera without TV)
14x A000 991 63 98 Rear Door panel clips

I can not find the main wiring loom part number - but use the GL part which will be long enough
1x A164 440 10 10

You also need to see if the cutout is there in the rear door handle, its almost certainly not - if not you need
1x A251 740 05 93 Rear door handle

COMAND will need coding for 'Reversing Camera' and you should update the flash in the AGW in COMAND on an 06 car (using Star diagnosis).

The R-Class being a more premium car than the ML, has a camera cutout on the handle and also an insert over the hole.

It can also have a powered steering column with memory where most ML's do not.
