Default Retrofit Cruise - W204

Hi

I have a 2010 W204 C220 Manual. I would like to fit cruise/limiter as i am surprised how much I miss it, from my previous cars.

I am a complete newbie to the forum and have been looking around various forums for advice. A couple suggest that post 2008 cars should be relatively straightforward - requiring fit of switchgear/slip ring and cowel and then to be coded up with STAR.

Do you know if this is the case? If so, presume the fitting of the hardware is fairly straightforward. Where is the best place to have the codiing done (I live in the South West) - is this limited to Main Dealers? The last car I carried out a retrofit for was an Audi TT and a local Audi specialist was able to code OK.

Many thanks.

I've tried to do 09 W204 and it couldnt be done, it just would not work

It needs
a) a new switch-pack/contact-spiral/column cover set, which involves removing the steering wheel and ensuring all the bolts are correctly tightened
b) firmware updates on a load of control modules, which I recommend a Mercedes dealer to since if it goes wrong the modules can die, and atleast that way you can get MB to replace the module
c) Datacard updated and a number of control modules re-coded

Worth talking to Comand (Europe) Welcome to www.comand.co.uk who are on M3 Junc 3

Many thanks for the response.

Yes, and the parts are relatively expensive

You may also look at buying those parts used.

Yes on the W204 if you buy new the whole switch pack (with the indicator stalk, cruise control lever, contact spiral, and the steering column cowl) come as one piece. All you really need is the cruise lever and the cowl.

The individual parts can be bought, the only issue you get is if the car it came from was crashed and the airbag went off the contact spiral is often burned out, but then you use the contact spiral from your existing pack.

Search4CarParts will help you look for the parts on eBay

Cheers
