The terminating cable is the wire which has 3 pins and takes one of the wires to ground.

CANbus is a network with lots of devices all connected in parallel. There is a single (120 ohm I think) resistor needed on the CAN network (which stops the signals jumping all over the place from inductive interference on the network) and, for instance, on the latest SLs it is in 1 of the CAN distributors, but on early ones it is in a different control unit (diagnosis module I think)

It sounds like you have sorted the damage the water had so far done - I hope there is not other damage, although as I said that duct seems prone to getting wet

Hi Richard BAD NEWS the flashing is back GUTTED!!!! are there any CAN connectors under the driver's rear floor area?? i have already hard wired the front (accelerator out one) didn't want to waste time stripping out the drivers seat only to find nothing there??? also noticed the water has been around the n/s/r quarter where the keyless go & parktronic module's are these look raised slightly from the floor on a metal bracket i'm hoping water has not been able to penetrate (only noticed rust around mounting nut's) the PSE pump foam is dry !! any idea if water to these component's can be related to the flashing fog light's?? i'm begining to think the rear SAM may be at fault didn't want to go back to the Indy for STAR until i have checked all CAN connection's because of the communication issues last time i was there Many Thanks Simon

You have damage on the CANBUS-C which is chassis/engine canbus. This canbus is present on the interior of the car in many places.

    These places include
    - transmission controller
    - ignition switch
    - common blocks

Going into the wiring and "hard wiring" the equipment is a project that will ultimately have to reversed because diagnostic issues need to be solved by eliminating one of the modules at a time.

You may also have some errant programming where someone may have activated adaptive braking by mistake and part of the sequence for adaptive braking is to flash the stop lamps and other lamps under severe braking.

It has to be one of those two areas.

Thanks Benzmodz, am i correct that the green wire block connector n/s/f ducting is one of the CAN C multiplugs ? my reason for suspecting the rear SAM is someone has had the exact same fault and a new SAM cured it, the hard wire is to rule out the communication issues with STAR that i had last time at the INDY and will be put back to OE when i get time!!!! as for adaptive braking the fog light's do not flash in a regular pattern more like if you had the earth wire and dragged it across the chassis they come on strong then flicker about!! thanks for the advice i just don't want to go back to the Indy until i have eliminated all water corroded multiplug's etc.....Simon

Water damage looks like a simple repair but in reality it is one of the most expensive problems to fix.
