Default Curious & why [MB reversing cameras]

I know that MB most of the time does unusual designt and specs, but it came to my attention why the MB backup camera has four wires connector and the majority has three.
I know that two of them must be the power supply but what are the other two?

I'm 90% sure that it is two for power, two for video as they don't share the video ground with the chassis. The power is fed via a little power supply box (on ML/GL/R) which takes ground, +12v and the feed from the reverse light bulb so the camera is only powered when you select reverse

    Cheers

Thanks for your reply Richard,.... this was the same logic I was expecting but I think this is different.
It happen for me to have the control mdules N66/2 from a ML500 which can take more than one camera and by examining the schematic from WIS, I can not get a 75 Omhs reading on the two pins on the CM, but I do get 75 Ohms between pin 2 and ground and is the same for pin 5, but I do not get any reading on pins 1&2 5&4.

I was told by some if he is right !! that UB is is the supply voltage... its normally 3.3 or 5v not 12 volts . C and CV are the uncompensated baseband signal which needs to be corrected and synced...

    What do you think !

I'm pretty sure the camera is not 12volts - but I havent thought more about the video feed. I'm pretty sure the official loom (on EU ML, which doesnt use a special multi-camera control module) does not have coax from the camera to the little power supply unit.

Next time I have a power unit I will open it up and have a look -

Alfie has an deconstructed GL camera, PM him here and see if he can see any manafacturer part number on the camera ...

    Power, Ground, Video signal, shield.

In many models the shield is constant from end to end, but in newer models the shield stops at the camera connector. Then the camera is only 3 pins and the main harness is 4 pins and one is just shield. It would make sense if they used coax but I have found that coax does not like to be bent in a hinge.

We are getting more technical now.
Is it possible that pin 2&1 and 5&4 marked as C & CV respectively of the CU are S-Video (Super-Video, sometimes referred to as Y/C Video, or component video)

That is the W221 diagram. Does not apply after 2008 and also does not apply to any other car.
